Further Information for Boarders

Visitors

Parents and guardians are very welcome to visit you outside school hours, but must contact a member of the House Staff to arrange a suitable time, as pupils can be very busy doing other activities when they are not in school! All visitors should report to Reception in the first instance.

Laundry

Each pupil will be given two net laundry bags. In the morning pupils should bring any dirty laundry downstairs and put it in the laundry bags ready to be washed. After school, pupils should collect their clean laundry and put it away. The box should be put in the laundry room each morning for clean clothes to be put into. All clothes should be clearly named.

Electronic Equipment

Pupils may bring personal laptops, stereos, CD players, IPods or similar articles, but the School will not accept any responsibility for loss or damage. All laptops must be checked and approved by the Network Administrator, Mr. Tim Parkinson, before use. All parents are advised to insure any personal items of value.

Weekend Visits

When going out for the weekend or other occasions not organised by the School, authorisation must be granted from our houseparent. This should be done by the Wednesday before the visit and must be authorised by a parent or guardian. All requests for weekend exeats must be sanctioned by the Deputy Head.

Pupils shopping in Blackpool, Preston or Manchester must not travel alone but in groups of 2 or more.

Guardians For Overseas Pupils

New Guardianship Arrangements (commencing on 4th September 2011)

It is a legal requirement that all Non-European pupils, under the age of 18, studying in the United Kingdom must have a Guardian who is over the age of 21 and who is resident in the UK. The United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA), which issues our license as an educational sponsor, will regularly monitor all boarding schools and colleges to ensure that these procedures are being carried out. We intend to carry out our duties diligently in order to protect our Highly Trusted Status.

Of equal importance is the safety and well-being, of our pupils when they are on school holidays and for this reason we have drawn up a Guardianship Charter detailing the level of care we expect all host families to provide to our pupils. Once again we will monitor the level of care provided to all our pupils.
