Rose House Lake District Trip
German exchange

On Sunday, 3rd of October, 2010, Rose House and some German exchange pupils went to the Lake District Trip. At 8:15 we took our packed lunches (Sandwich with ham, apple, chocolate bar and a bottle of still water), and sat in the mini-bus. There were two mini-buses - Miss Kimmerle and Ms Merris were driving. After about two hours we finally arrived at Lake District National Park at Lake Derwentwater. Unluckily, it started to rain.

But we wanted to go for a walk so we ate our lunches and went for a long walk across the lake in the Northern Lake District, through enchanting park alleys, looking around at the beautiful view: mountains higher than skies, green grass, colourful trees, clean lakes and pretty creatures such as sheep. Ms Sharp was our guide, she had been there many times, so she knew every road in the park. Well, the park was huge! We were walking about 7 miles, it took us a long time. Covering 885 square miles, the Lake District National Park is the largest of England's National Parks!

The Lake District was created by the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 and came into being on 15 August 1951.The grandeur of its scenery was a major factor in bringing about statutory protection and recognition. The present National Park Authority was set up under the Environment Act 1995 and took over the running of the National Park in April 1997.

After the walk we went to the Keswick for a bit of shopping. Keswick is the North Lakes' most popular holiday and day trip destination. Nestling between the Skiddaw Mountains and Derwentwater Lake, the town is situated in an idylic location in the Lake District National Park. There is a wide variety of shops, cafes, tea and coffee rooms, pubs and restaurants. Attractions in the Northern Lakes are popular with both tourists and locals, and include the highly successful Theatre by the Lake, cinema, public parks, gardens, museums, swimming pool, stately homes, many different galleries and of course, the lakes and the spectacular fells.

The day was amazing, we had great time on the Lake and hopefully the German exchange pupils did enjoy this trip. I think they did, because trip was amazing!

Murder Mystery!

Rose House girls had the great opportunity to play the Murder Mystery Dinner, marvellously organised by Ms Allen. Everybody got the name of a character and the corresponding information including secrets, sympathies and antipathies one week before the game and had to play the role of this character then on the murder mystery night!

Moreover, it was important to wear clothes from the 1980s when the dinner was set and some girls also had to disguise as men !

.

The game deals with discovering who is the murderer of a young guy who was killed, through interviewing and talking to the different  participants of the dinner. It was really fun because everybody played their roles very seriously.

.

During the game we also had something to eat: there was a nice buffet and we had a little dinner together.

.

At the end we won prizes, for example for the best costume, the best performance and of course for figuring out the murderer!

.

I think every girl enjoyed this evening and had much fun!
