The Very Hungry Caterpillar

The Reception children are enjoying lots of stories. We talked about our favourite stories and everyone had a different story. Elijah brought in a beautiful book of The Hungry Caterpillar.  It had pictures in 3D and moving parts! We practised our handwriting when we copied a sentence about the story from the board. The next day Tobey brought in a soft cuddly caterpillar. We painted super caterpillar pictures which are now on the wall and made glittery leaves. The story made us think about all the food eaten by the caterpillar and what it would be like to have a stomach ache!

We watched the story of The Rainbow Fish and talked about having friends and feeling happier when we are kind to other people. We cut out large fish and decorated them with cellophane and sequins. In literacy, we are continuing to work on more letter sounds and three letter word building. In numeracy, we are improving our counting accuracy and working on correct number writing
