Mrs Katie Lee, Rossall Head of Junior, Infant and Nursery Schools

Notes from KML

This weekend is an important time of the year; Scholarship examinations for entry into Years 3 and 5 in September 2012. There has been tremendous interest for both year groups and the teachers will be busily marking into the afternoon on Saturday. Pupils applying for academic scholarships, if successful, will be invited back on Monday for an interview. Music auditions and sports trials will be held on Monday morning followed by an interview. I would like to wish all our internal candidates good luck on the day; they should just imagine it is a normal school day and enjoy it.

I am pleased to report that £1100 was raised at the Christmas Fair, many thanks to all the parents who assisted with this event. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and will now benefit from the funds.

.

Hopefully everyone did receive their newsletter by email; I have had no response to my request of last week. It would be most cost effective if parents would be happy to receive an electronic version rather than a paper copy. As from the first Friday in February, a paper copy of the Rossall Reporter will only be available on request.

.

OPEN DAY - We are holding an open afternoon on Thursday 29th March from 2.00pm. This will be a great opportunity for our current Pre School parents to visit the Reception class and have a talk to Mrs Senior. We hope that parents are seriously considering Rossall as an option, especially as the children are settled into their surroundings, are familiar with the teachers and enjoy the Rossall way of life. If parents have any queries please contact either Mrs Murray (01253 774228) or Mrs Lee (01253 774222)

INFANT BEHAVIOUR AGREEMENTS

The Infants have been discussing the best way to interact with your fellow pupils and have drawn up a behaviour agreement between themselves.  We think they should be congratulated on very grown up behaviour!

Classroom agreement:

·         Speak quietly to your neighbour

·         Concentrate and take your time

·         Listen carefully when people are giving

          their ideas

·         Try your best

Playground agreement:

·         Play nicely with each other

·         Use all the toys correctly

·         Always share the toys

·         We must tidy toys away at the end of

          playtime

·         Line up sensibly and quietly

Dining hall and corridor agreement:

·         Be polite, remember to say please and

          thank you

·         Do not run, always walk

·         Wash your hands often

·         Sit still to eat lunch

·         Wait quietly at the door before play time

SPORTS DINNER AND AWARDS IN MONDO’S

We held our first dinner to make the various presentations and awards for sports players. As a reminder of all the season's successes there was slide show consisting of picture taken at sporting events throughout the year. After a buffet supper, the various awards and trophies were presented by Mrs Lee and Mr Condon. Sam and Ashley were on hand to assist in the proceedings. Full details of awards are listed below. I am sure there will be one or two disappointed players who didn't receive awards, but all players were acknowledged for their efforts and performance over the season. This new event will hopefully encourage all players to be motivated to receive such awards in the future. Congratulations to all our teams.
