Visa application

Visa Application Procedure

Students from some countries need to apply for UK Student Visa Entry Clearance before departure. Failure to obtain this will result in the student being refused entry to the UK when they arrive at Immigration.

The start of the new school year is a very busy time for Visa applications so please apply early.

Students will need to provide documents such as a valid passport, Course Offer Certificate, and evidence that they are able to meet the costs of studying in the UK, including tuition fees and living expenses.

Please check with the British Embassy/High Commission/Consulate to find out exactly what documents are needed, as this could vary in different countries.

Remember: students need the correct visa to stay in the UK for the full duration of the course at Rossall.

A Course Offer Certificate will be issued by Rossall after a completed Registration Form has been received. This is required for the Visa application.

A Course Acceptance Certificate will be issued by Rossall after a completed Acceptance Form and Deposit has been received. This is sometimes required for the Visa application.

Accurate completion of the Visa application form is important. This means that the student must know all about the course they are to study as they may be questioned about it if they are interviewed.

Most students are granted Visas: if they are refused it is usually because the form is incorrect or they have not answered honestly at the interview.

The British Council produces a useful booklet called “First Steps – A Guide to Visa Applications” which is available from their offices or online at www.britishcouncil.org/education/qdu/info.htm .

More information is available at http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk and www.britishembassy.gov.uk . You can also contact The British Council or British Embassy for advice on whether a visa is needed.
